The author argues the AI "building" obsession has all the hallmarks of addiction: pull the lever (write a prompt), magic appears, dopamine hit — short-lived because no real work was involved, then repeat.
He's seen heavily AI-pilled people sink thousands of dollars of earnings and savings into tokens for things with little to no economic value — effectively donating to AI companies — with a side of gambler's fallacy. He predicts "AI building addiction" will soon be recognized as a de facto condition, and sees delusion in those who think they need all this to "optimize their life."
