SmolVM: Open-Source Sandbox VMs That Keep AI Agents Off Your Real Machine

SmolVM is an open-source (Apache-licensed) sandbox infrastructure giving AI agents their own disposable virtual machines instead of raw shell access to your host. Key features: hardware-level isolation per sandbox, browser automation (navigate, fill forms, screenshots) via CDP/viewer/VNC, egress network restrictions to specified domains, host directory mounts (read-only by default), and snapshot-based reusable state across sessions. Python and CLI controls cover sandbox creation, command execution, and teardown.
