One-shot digital board games with AI opponents: scan assets, feed Opus the rulebook, wait 2-4 hours
oipoi · reddit · 2026-09-26
A detailed workflow for digitizing physical board games for solo play using Opus 5.5: scan all assets, feed in the rulebook plus OpenRouter credits, and get a fully playable one-shot build in 2-4 hours. Opus autonomously upscales/vectorizes/regenerates scanned assets and generates themed audio via separate models. AI opponents use exact expectimax for dice, determinized MCTS for hidden information, and heuristic lookahead for drafting/worker placement. The rule engine is decoupled from the UI for edge-case testing and self-play difficulty tuning. The author hopes Board Game Arena adopts the approach.
