LiveKit Acquires Loophole Labs to Cut Agent Startup Times Under 3 Seconds

LiveKit, the platform for building voice, video, and physical AI agents, has acquired infrastructure startup Loophole Labs. Its entire 8-person engineering team joins, with founder and CEO Shivansh Vij continuing to lead.
Founded in 2021, Loophole Labs built virtualization tech including a hypervisor called Substrate to tackle app startup times and workload migration across servers. LiveKit plans to bring the technology into production within weeks, targeting agent startup times under 3 seconds — enabling faster response to demand bursts, lower idle costs, and a path to essentially unlimited concurrent agents for customers. CEO Russ d'Sa called it a key gap-filler on the road to becoming the default platform for running agents.
