Quebec novel pulled from Prix Goncourt after AI detector flagged it as AI-written

Thélyson Orélien's Quebec novel « C'était ça ou mourir » was acclaimed and shortlisted for the Prix Goncourt before readers accused it of being AI-written. A French journalist simply ran it through Pangram: it came out as AI-generated while other shortlisted novels read 100% human. The Goncourt academy president had said it would take overwhelming evidence to pull the book — it has now been withdrawn. The author was also found to have plagiarized content.
