The ideal model router: cheap model escalates, strong model as checker
nbaschez · x · 2026-09-26
- Proposed router design: start tasks with a cheap model, teach it to escalate when needed
- Use a more powerful model as a "checker" that can also escalate
- Big/hard tasks are naturally accepted as async and slower, so added latency is tolerable; easy tasks users expect instantly still resolve fast
