House votes 417-3 on bill making data centers pay added grid costs

The U.S. House voted 417-3 for a bill requiring state regulators to consider making large data centers cover the grid costs they add.
The author, self-described as "about as pro-AI as it gets," argues the word "consider" is too weak: ordinary households shouldn't subsidize trillion-dollar companies through electricity bills, and being bullish on AI doesn't make him their unpaid investor.
The vote shows power-cost allocation for AI data centers is now entering legislation.
