4B decision model Mica beats same-size rival at Tetris without generating a single token
Top-Evidence174 · reddit · 2026-09-26
A developer trained Mica v0.1, a 4B decision model, for about $30 on rented RTX 3090s, then matched it against the same-size Kev 4B on identical Tetris seeds and piece orders. Mica never generates text — it reads logits over four candidate placements, with no search or lookahead.
Across three seeds, lines cleared: 33 vs 27, 97 vs 17, and 93 vs 11. Kev topped out in all three runs; Mica survived all 250 pieces on two seeds. Mica picked the best available placement about 75% of the time versus roughly 50% for Kev. Weights and code are open-sourced on Hugging Face and GitHub.
