A new poll shared by AISafetyMemes finds most people on both sides of the Atlantic think AI could destroy humanity and support a pause, with only 1 in 15 seeing no risk. AI safety researcher David Krueger called the numbers "absolutely bonkers," saying the public is on the safety side and accusing a16z's "dark money propaganda machine" of spinning extinction risk as a fringe view — which the data contradicts.
