After chatting with a researcher working on generalized world models, the author connected a dot: many robots adopt a humanoid form factor because the models are trained on humans performing tasks. The humanoid shape aligns naturally with human demonstration data, making data collection straightforward. The author admits the link seems obvious in hindsight but had not occurred to him before — a useful lens on the humanoid robotics boom.
