Solo founder says Google wiped the AI Mode thread holding his entire startup's data

A non-technical solo founder in Qatar posted on Reddit that Google Search AI Mode wiped his 'mega thread' containing virtually all of his startup's critical information: vision and 10-year plan, business model, 10-slide pitch deck, five rounds of fundraising projections, customer profiles, TAM estimates, ESOP and equity breakdown, attorneys for dual-jurisdiction incorporation, cold emails to angels/VCs, and data room checklists.
He'd relied on AI Mode for ideation after leaving buggy, rate-limited Google Antigravity for Claude/Anthropic on the coding side. The thread vanished from history and activity logs starting July 5, 2026, while older, less valuable threads remained intact.
He admits the fault was not backing up locally and urges others to never keep critical data solely inside a cloud AI chat. No restoration is expected; the post is a cautionary record.
