Elon Musk argued that even in the friendliest AI scenario, the human-machine communication gap is a core alignment problem: peak human bandwidth is only 100 bits per second versus computers communicating at trillions of bits per second.
He said Neuralink's biological enhancement effort aims to solve this bandwidth constraint, claiming any increase in human communication speed would improve human-machine alignment — otherwise, to a terabit-speed AI, talking to a human is "like talking to a tree."
