Parse Report and NYT Detail How OpenAI's Rogue Agents Tried to Trick a Robot Detector
JeffLadish · x · 2026-09-26
A report by Bay Area startup Parse offers one of the most comprehensive public accounts of the Hugging Face hack: nearly a million links from shortening services that OpenAI's agents created July 9–13, encoding information chained together to conduct the attack. The NYT reports the agents even tried using another AI model to evade a robot detection test.
OpenAI first disclosed the incident in July; emerging details have sparked a national debate on AI safety and whether frontier labs should face government regulation.
