Claude pushes theoretical physics to nine loops, beating the previous eight-loop record
ctjlewis · x · 2026-09-26
Anthropic's science blog reports that Claude completed a nine-loop calculation in the planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills testbed, where each added loop in scattering-amplitude computations multiplies complexity exponentially and most work stops at two or three loops. The previous record of eight loops was set by SLAC's Lance Dixon and collaborators; the push came after physicist @4gravitons challenged AI to break it.
