Anthropic says Claude pushes scattering-amplitude record to nine loops in N=4 super-Yang-Mills
ctjlewis · x · 2026-09-26
On its Science Blog, Anthropic announced that Claude completed a nine-loop calculation in planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory, a simplified model physicists use as a testing ground. Each added loop raises precision but costs exponentially more computation; most calculations stop at two or three loops, and eight loops was the previous record set by SLAC's Lance Dixon and collaborators. The effort followed a public challenge from physicist @4gravitons on whether AI could push past eight.
