bb, the IDE that builds itself: add any feature with a single prompt via plugins

In a thread debating Claude Code's TUI vs Codex's desktop app, a developer recommended bb, billing itself as "the IDE that builds itself."
bb's core idea is full customizability: nearly anything can be changed with a single prompt. Ask for a task tracker, and bb writes itself a plugin — a sidebar panel, a bb tasks command, and a skill that teaches every agent to use it.
Many of bb's own features are built with the same tools users get: the GitHub integration, agent memory, scheduled jobs, and remote access are all plugins. Runs on macOS (Apple Silicon), Linux, and Windows via WSL, with Codex among the supported models. Reportedly used by builders at Meta, Figma, Notion, and Datadog.
