Anthropic and OpenAI shipped cheaper models 101 minutes apart

Per the ThursdAI show notes: one week after every lab head signed a "pace the frontier" pledge, Anthropic and OpenAI released major new models just 101 minutes apart on Sep 22 — both cheaper.
- Claude Opus 5.5 (09:31 PT): Fable-level capability, 40% cheaper than Opus 5 — $4 input, $0.20 cached read, $20 output per 1M tokens.
- GPT-6 Sol & Luna (11:12 PT): half the GPT-5.6 price, with Luna 40x cheaper again. Per token, GPT-6 Sol is half of Opus 5.5's price, but Opus 5.5 slashed cached reads to 20¢ — and cache reads dominate the bill in agentic coding.
Also: Meta went all-in on Muse — voice, a custom wake word on glasses, a Muse Charm keychain, integration in new VR glasses, plus a free cloud computer with root for every user (one user already Tailscaled in). Grok moved into Tesla, and open source cloned Jev within a week.
