Claude reportedly computes a nine-loop scattering amplitude, topping the eight-loop record
Dr_Singularity · x · 2026-09-26
A viral claim says Claude autonomously one-shotted a nine-loop scattering amplitude in planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills — a frontier theoretical physics calculation long considered too hard to attack directly.
Context: scattering amplitudes predict particle behavior and are notoriously hard to compute; physicists stack loop corrections, each adding exponential cost, and most calculations stop at two or three loops. The previous record of eight loops was set by SLAC's Lance Dixon and collaborators. If verified, this would mark a milestone in autonomous scientific discovery — but the claim awaits published confirmation.
