Zuckerberg says labs can self-regulate AI safety; critics cite Meta's scam-ad revenue
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-09-26
Quoting Zuckerberg's position that AI labs don't need industry-wide coordination and can handle safety internally, David Sacks' post drew pushback from Ben Todd: Zuckerberg previously learned 10% of Meta's revenue came from scam ads (enabling $50bn/year stolen from Americans) and chose not to act to protect profits — making him, in Todd's view, a poor source of advice on AI regulation. Zuckerberg also argued trust and alignment are becoming the most important next capabilities, with sufficient commercial incentives to get it right.
