Peter Steinberger revealed that Microsoft shipped a compelling product built on top of open-source OpenClaw. The two sides have worked together since March to prepare the codebase for large-scale deployments, and he credits Microsoft as a great partner and open-source contributor.
In a reply, pswider noted a pain point: OpenClaw's Scout lacks a proper remote — his instance sits dormant in an Azure VM. He argues OpenClaw's best features are its channels and remote chat, and that adding a remote could boost usage "19-50x"; Teams, he says, is just chat with a coworker, not a remote.
