Bengio on building AI: "What countered it is love, love of my children"

A user resurfaced a podcast with Turing Award winner and most-cited living scientist Yoshua Bengio, who said: "I was actively working on making AI smarter. And you want to feel good about your work… For me, what countered that is love, love of my children."
The quoted tweet from @clairlemon pushes the opposite angle: many of the loudest extinction warners have remarkably few children, while the fertility crisis is a real existential threat today — a pointed juxtaposition about the motives of AI-risk advocates.
