He bought his first DGX for $3,999 in November, with Dell/Acer clones slightly pricier — but a top-spec M5 Ultra Mac Studio with 256GB unified memory now handles local inference nearly as well for most workloads, and users who don't tune models rarely hit the point where DGX hardware justifies the premium.
