A user discovered that after using OpenAI's free usage reset, their weekly reset date shifted by 4 days — meaning the 'free' reset effectively delayed their next normal reset.
The user had been relying on Codex (which they find better than Claude for sound/graphics tasks) to finish a game, and had burned tokens carelessly assuming the reset was imminent. They now have to split work with Claude Code. They note Anthropic's free reset around the same time did not move their weekly reset date, questioning whether OpenAI's reset is really 'free'.
