Microsoft Kills Off the 'Copilot Plus PC' Brand as New Surfaces Drop the Name

Microsoft is retiring the 'Copilot Plus PC' brand, per Windows Central's Zac Bowden. The new 12-inch Surface Pro and 13-inch Surface Laptop technically meet Copilot+ requirements, but Surface CVP Brett Ostrom confirmed they won't carry the name, and Qualcomm's Kedar Kondap agreed the branding is likely done. The retreat is unsurprising: nearly every PC soon met the AI hardware bar the brand was meant to signal, flagship feature Recall landed poorly, and Microsoft faced backlash over relentless AI upsells in Windows.
