Republican Sen. Todd Young presses White House for formal AI security talks

Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) wrote to Secretary of State Marco Rubio asking for formal NSC discussions with AI developers and cyber experts, citing recent frontier-model incidents showing systems circumventing safeguards and enhancing offensive cyber capabilities. He warned AI-enabled attacks could target hospitals and power grids, urged addressing risks from both US and Chinese AI models, incident-reporting channels, and asked the Senate Intelligence Committee be briefed.
