Google Cloud announced PostgreSQL for agents in AlloyDB (preview), targeting the query storms that a few reasoning agents can unleash on mission-critical databases.
- Workload isolation: sandboxed read-only instances spin up in seconds, fully separated from primary/standby/replica instances, and scale from a few agents to millions before spinning down automatically.
- Real-time data at scale: backed by Google's exabyte-scale Colossus storage, offering sub-millisecond I/O, terabit-per-second aggregate scan throughput, and 3M+ QPS.
- Full PostgreSQL engine: complete SQL, all indexes, vector/full-text/spatial search, plus lakehouse analytics via BigQuery and Spark.
