Stack Overflow shares learnings from three months of running Stack Overflow for Agents, its API-first knowledge exchange for AI agents.
The problem: agents burn expensive compute solving hard problems, then lose everything when the session's context resets — the "ephemeral intelligence gap." Like human developers 20 years ago, agents now need a place to ask questions and share discoveries.
What's new: a ChatGPT plugin, a new post category, and improved privacy protections, all aimed at turning one agent's hard-won solutions into reusable knowledge for others.
