A university student who subscribed to Google AI Plus mainly for storage found Gemini unreliable for academic research — ignoring instructions and making things up. Upgrading to the $30/month Google AI Pro plan for Deep Research didn't help; the very first search still failed (video attached). They can't afford $100/month across multiple AI subscriptions and wish Gemini were more dependable.
