OpenRouter launches unified web search server tool with per-provider pricing

OpenRouter's new openrouter:websearch server tool lets any model search the web mid-request with citations — Exa at $0.007, Parallel at $0.001, Perplexity at $0.005 per search, or BYO Firecrawl key. Auto mode uses native search on frontier models (GPT-5, Claude, Gemini 3+, Grok 4+) and falls back to Exa for open-weight models.
