One prompt, four images: Claude Opus 5.5 builds a full 3D chess roguelite in Godot
Reidq · reddit · 2026-09-25
A developer built a complete 3D chess roguelite, Chainmate, in Godot 4 using Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code — with just one prompt ("build this game") and four ChatGPT-generated art reference images as input.
The model produced everything: game code, 3D models (no Blender, no asset files — every piece, arena, and relic is procedurally generated by code it wrote), synthesized music and sound effects, tests, and builds. The author says they didn't write or edit a single line.
The game is a 6×6-board roguelite with three acts and nine fights, branching maps with shops and events, pieces that level up and visibly transform, 18 rule-bending relics, and an enemy AI that searches ahead with three difficulty levels. It's playable in the browser via itch.io, with real-player playtesting, smarter enemy AI, and more bosses planned next.
