UK's 'Largest AI Supercomputer' Slips to Mid-2030s Over Power Supply

The Guardian reports the UK government-hailed "largest AI supercomputer" in Loughton, Essex, built by Nscale, will miss its 2027 launch: grid operator UKPN says sufficient power won't be available until the early-to-mid 2030s. Nscale, eyeing a $35bn (£26bn) flotation, is exploring on-site generation. The site was revealed in March to still be an operating scaffolding yard—underscoring energy as the key bottleneck for datacenter buildout.
