Project Suncatcher, Google's space-based datacenter initiative, will launch its prototype datacenter satellite on a SpaceX Falcon 9 on October 1. Per an NYT report, the plan envisions a flock of 80+ networked satellites flying in formation, plus a custom satellite the length of a soccer field, to explore running AI datacenters in orbit.
