AlphaFold Adds 8,000+ Virus Protein Dimers, Launches Pandemic Preparedness Portal

Nature reports the AlphaFold Protein Structure Database has added 8,000+ virus protein dimers from 23 virus families with human-infecting members (including monkeypox), launching a dedicated 'pandemic preparedness portal'. Predictions are made with AlphaFold2 and freely available, though researchers caution they need experimental confirmation. Earlier this year, 1.7 million interacting protein pairs from 20 model organisms were added.
