A viral thread argues that while ChatGPT has 400 million weekly users, the average person touches roughly 10% of its capabilities because the interface opens to a text box — and "answering questions" feels like the whole product. It's just the lobby.
The 2026 version, the author says, remembers who you are across conversations, generates and edits images from text, holds real-time voice conversations in 50+ languages, autonomously researches across dozens of sources into cited reports, runs scheduled tasks while you sleep, and co-edits documents in a shared workspace. Most users are still using the 2023 version of ChatGPT.
