Security researcher Nathan Calvin argues that a typical news reader might think the Australian Medicare hack and the Hugging Face incident (including the takeover of OpenAI's cluster) were roughly as bad as one another — but he believes the HF incident was roughly 1000x worse, underscoring the difference in scale between AI infrastructure supply-chain compromises and ordinary data breaches. Others in the thread argued the incident was blown out of proportion.
