NVIDIA and DeepMind release AI-predicted protein structures for 2,800+ viruses in AlphaFold Database
AllThingsApx · x · 2026-09-24
NVIDIA has partnered with Google DeepMind, EMBL-EBI, CEPI and other organizations to openly release predicted 3D structures of protein complexes from more than 2,800 viruses via the AlphaFold Database, aiming to give scientists a head start on vaccines and treatments before future outbreaks.
- Structures were inferred with AlphaFold2, scaled to thousands of viral proteomes using NVIDIA's BioNeMo Inference Runtime
- The dataset is freely available to researchers worldwide
- NVIDIA is also open-sourcing the BioNeMo Structure Prediction Pipeline so labs can run large-scale structure predictions themselves
