Max Planck's ERC-funded BrainAlign project opens two postdoc slots on brain-aligned LLMs

The BrAIN group led by Dr. Mariya Toneva at MPI-SWS (Saarbrücken) is hiring two postdocs for the ERC-funded BrainAlign project; application deadline Oct 13, 2026.
- Position 1 (NeuroAI): develop methods leveraging heterogeneous human brain datasets to train and evaluate brain-aligned language models — aiming for more human-like language understanding, especially long-timescale information integration — and use those models to probe how the human brain processes language. Highly interdisciplinary: deep learning, computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, NLP.
- Position 2: human-centered LLM evaluations.
The project will team three postdocs and two PhD students.
