Dev recreates 1995 puzzle game Zoop in JavaScript with Opus 5.5
mhmazur · x · 2026-09-24
mhmazur worked with Opus 5.5 to build a playable JavaScript version of Zoop, the 1995 puzzle game by UK studio Hookstone. You control a shooter in the center square, clearing matching runs of colored pieces creeping in from four sides, swapping colors on non-matching hits.
Early levels are slow but the pace ramps up sharply — the author warns of the difficulty beyond level 15. He shares that his kids stayed up competing for the high score, a fun full-circle moment 30 years after the original.
