Researcher Tania Babina released a new AI investments dataset and paper, splitting AI investment into 7 subtechnology categories — general AI, machine learning, NLP, computer vision, generative AI, agentic AI, and other AI — and building firm-level AI panels through 2024. The accompanying package updates AI search terms through 2025 for measuring firms' internal AI investment via employment of AI-skilled workers, based on the paper "Canaries in the Gold Mine" with Renhao Jiang and Alex He.
