A solo developer launched Frugäast, an 'agentless' coding GUI built to prevent context collapse. After finding that autonomous agents like Cursor turned him into an 'AI middle-manager' — spending 80% of his day writing markdown plans just to restrain the agent's context window — he designed the tool around three principles: a fuzzy-finder UI for surgical file selection (no full-workspace indexing), strict forced SEARCH/REPLACE diff output (BYOK), and zero autonomy: you dictate the architecture, the LLM just types, with diffs auto-committed via Git for easy review and revert. He argues in a companion blog post that vibe-coding is causing code-comprehension collapse. The project is self-funded and bootstrapped.
