Google Research open-sources EnvHarness: training environments that evolve with your AI agents
bendee983 · x · 2026-09-24
bendee983 covers EnvHarness, a new open-source framework from Google Research that tackles a key bottleneck in self-evolving AI agent harnesses: the training environment. Most agent training environments are static — they don't provide feedback to improve agent skills or grow more challenging as agents improve.
EnvHarness builds a harness for the environment itself, adapting the environment and training examples based on the agent's progress. It is orthogonal to harness optimization techniques and can be combined with them for more capable agents. VentureBeat published the story with comments from Google Research's Zifeng Wang.
