Yemen weapons group built guided rockets using Claude Code before Anthropic could ban it

A weapons development group in northern Yemen reportedly used Claude Code to write code, research, review, and run simulations — culminating in a guided rocket test launch. Anthropic banned the accounts, but only after the group had kept its simulation tooling locally. The case shows how much AI compresses engineering workloads (even armed groups going "all-in on AI") and how slow post-hoc account bans are at stopping frontier-model misuse for weapons development.
