Meta's Muse Realtime Avatar beats two leading commercial avatar systems in blind tests
AIatMeta · x · 2026-09-24
Meta blind-tested Muse Realtime Avatar against two leading commercial avatar systems in live calls: raters held 2–3 minute conversations with matched identities, comparing visual quality, sync, consistency and mannerisms — Muse won on overall preference. Technically, Meta distilled a 40-step diffusion teacher (3-way CFG, 120 evals per chunk) into an unguided 2-step causal student with fixed-length KV cache, cutting evals 60x, with self-forcing preventing drift over long conversations.
