Industry responds to hyperscale RDMA paper with Multipath Reliable Connection on path to Ultra Ethernet

- Torsten Hoefler notes the industry reacted quickly to the 2023 paper "Datacenter Ethernet and RDMA: Issues at Hyperscale": the new Multipath Reliable Connection (MRC) turns many of the paper's "Issues at Hyperscale" into solutions, moving from lossy packet delivery to reliable multipath spraying on the path to Ultra Ethernet.
- The paper argued AI/HPC/storage workloads expose RoCE design flaws and predicted modernized Ethernet-based networking would replace TCP and RoCE within a decade.
