Biologist dvira rebutted Anthropic's "Claude-led discovery" claim point by point: the finding was already reported by Korn et al. in 2021; bioinformatics predictions are not scarce — dozens of such papers are published daily; the real shortage is students and funding, not interesting biological findings.
He concedes the useful takeaway: give an experienced biologist unlimited tokens and they can do better science with fewer trainees — something he practices daily — but argues there are better examples, and calls the experimental validation underwhelming.
