a16z announced the Ops Engineering Fellowship, bringing together 50 internally deployed engineers and AI-pilled operators.
Partner David Booth says a new kind of builder is emerging inside companies: they connect internal systems, build agents, and redesign workflows across finance, sales, and support — called "internally deployed FDEs," "AI Operations," or "Agent Engineer." a16z wants to convene these frontier practitioners to rethink how companies operate in an AI-native way.
