DeepSeek's Elastic Compute paper: 160 nodes and 3FS make for a lean sandbox
sloppenheimer · x · 2026-09-24
A follow-up to a promised paper breakdown of DeepSeek's new Elastic Compute system, the author's first impressions after reading: much denser than expected—160 nodes is nothing—and built on 3FS with (likely) deduplication and layered dependencies to minimize image counts, probably the leanest sandbox implementation claimed yet. A full breakdown is coming.
