An Anthropic team member (@trq212) says they're considering killing Claude Code's plan mode and repurposing the shift+tab hotkey to adjust effort levels, arguing current models no longer need plan mode; they're soliciting feedback from plan mode holdouts. A respondent agreed it should be killed. The move signals a shift in coding-agent UX: as models get stronger, explicit planning workflows may become unnecessary.
