Greg Casar introduced the Ban Artificial Superintelligence Act, which would prohibit developing AI that 'exceeds human cognitive performance across most domains,' pause advanced AI development until a new federal AI regulator is up and running, create a cabinet-level Department of Artificial Intelligence, and impose severe penalties — including a 'corporate death penalty' for entities that circumvent the rules.
