AI models aren't inherently racially biased, argues researcher citing empirical studies
Afinetheorem · x · 2026-09-23
Afinetheorem pushes back on the widespread claim that AI models are generally racially biased. He argues the narrative stems from cherry-picked articles plus one bad book, repeated uncritically, while many empirical papers show AI can overcome implicit or explicit biases in human decisions.
In a follow-up he adds that while you can certainly write a biased model, the idea that training-data bias against minorities is unfixable — in credit, courts, hiring, negotiating, plagiarism detection, etc. — is false: it is generally very easy to do better than humans in these domains.
